Anyone know what the difference in starters for manual and auto for an 87 f150

From what im told the bendix goes out further on the auto trans starter than the manual. I didn't think there was a difference either.

I think it might be the offset and tooth count on the flywheel vs. flexplate. I'm not sure thats the difference but they are not the same.
