smog stuff.....
i took a bunch of the smog/vacum stuff out today. removed the "soup can" took out what i beleive to be the filter for the air going into the smog pump, and i took out a portion of the hose that puts the air into wherever it goes.
i just want to make sure everything is going to be ok like this, and if there is anything else i can easily take out/plug off. im planning on pulling the engine out in the next couple weeks and i plan on taking a bunch more of it out.

id say leave it alone, i doubt you will see any mileage or performance gains. i think if anything it will just cause problems with the ecu. but im just a shade tree mechanic, and thats just my exp.
im not looking for any power or mpg, i just want to get rid of some of the **** under there that isnt needed (as you can see from the one pic, im not a fan of AC either lol). i beleive all the pump does is put fresh air into the exhaust system to reduce emisions, so other then i wont be able to get a legit etest i dont think i need any of that crap. i will eventually be taking the pump off once i get a smaller belt.
truck doesnt run different, doesnt give me a CEL and starts up fine. i dont think im hurting anything by removing this stuff

It pumps fresh oxygenated air into the exhaust to aid in the combustion of unburned fuel. Doesn't affect the way the truck runs, as long as you leave the EGR on. You want to keep the EGR, the rest is crap. Cap the two ports in the back of the heads, cap the tube that is before the cat. Leave the control solenoids so you don't store thermactor codes.
Just 3 things 1 its against the law 2 it wont run any better if not worse 3 if you ever sell or trade the truck you are responsible to the next owner to replace any removed or alterd emission control equip.

It's not against the law in Canada.... We don't have the psycho gov't after us about that crap
