Default The Slow Resto

As I said in my introduction thread, my kid is restoring a 1993 F150 4x4.

It's power steering, power brakes, 4x4, automatic. That's it. that's all.

Good first truck, and the inline 300 six I've heard is hard to kill even if you try.

So here's the starter pics. This is being done with his money (or slave labor for things he doesn't have the money for) so it'll be a slow journey but figured this would be a cool place to document the progress with folks who will encourage and appreciate.

So today he had a few bucks and wanted to fix the head lights - they're 15 years old and he didn't like that they were cloudy. Rather than spend cash on new headlights, I got to introduce him to the fine art of hand buffing.

Before:

During (my favorite part, I'm not doing anything, just watching - this is way fun)

and after:

Not perfect, but a good ways better than what it was. You can actually tell it's a headlight now and see the inside. Once the sealer sets up, it should be pretty nice.

Went to Pull-a-part and got one for 7 dollars... gotta love watching the young'uns get greasy hands

Looking forward to seeing the finished resto. I just posted this link in case the headlights have moisture inside the lens. I plan on replacing mine this spring because of both the haze and moisture. Can't beat brand new headlight assemblies for $37.70 and FREE shipping!

Have fun with the project! Glad to see he is making the effort to get his truck into the condition he wants.
