Default sloppy steering

So the only remaining issue with my 88F150 is that the steering is sloppy at best. If I put my hand at 12:00 I can move the wheel between 10:00-2:00 without moving the wheels. the truck has a 3" body lift in it, and when I removed the center of my steering wheel I saw that the steering shaft notch that is supposed to be at 12:00 was between 1:00-2:00 (that at least explained why the wheel was sitting crooked) I was wondering what the best way to correct this would?

You'll have to check out the steering components and see what is bad.

The gearbox is adjustable, so you can remove slack in it.

As far as I know they all are. There's a threaded rod on the top with an allen key hole on it, and a jamb nut locking it down. Loosen the jamb nut and tighten the rod to remove slack, then tighten the nut to hold it in place. Don't go too tight or the box will wear out much faster, and you will notice more effort to steer and the wheel won't return to center on its own while moving.
