Default shifter forks?

Truck won't go in first or second gear but will go in third, forth, fifth, and reverse. Bad shifted forks? I pulled apart the shifter but, im not really sure what bad or good shifter forks should look like. I'll post pics soon. But could that be the problem?. 1995 f150 xlt 302 5.0 4X4 5-speed.

Your pictures totally suck, but yes the 1-2 shift fork is worn. It should look like the 3-4 shift fork next to it. I welded nubs on mine, twice, to temporarily fix it. I'll buy the fork some day.

So when I have to throw a water pump on my 4.9 that means the engine sucks? It's a shift fork, you don't even have to pull the tranny to change it.

Oh ****** done pist Sean off talkin bout his tranny.. I kinda wish my truck had the m5od.. How hard is it to do a auto to manual conversion? Like on a scale of 1 changing a trans pan gasket to 10 rebuilding the engine..

I would say a 6.5. Never done it of course.

But it requires new computer(maybe new harness)

New steering column(unless you want to just leave the old shifter there)

New tranny. New t-case if its 4x4

New driveshafts

It wasn't personal......... I dislike that transmission allot.

Sorry Sean.... Let me make it up to you by sharing a little something I just found on youtube that my buddies and I would Cruiz and Booze to.......Um...smoke too.

BTW, for most folks, when these forks go bad, most people freak out and replace the transmission. As I did. After I purchased my rebuilt transmission, the one that seized up, I started looking around the internet and realized how easy it was to repair.
