33= EGR valve opening not detected, which usually causes 41. It could be the EGR valve, but it could be the EGR solenoid or the wires and vacuum to it.

Check for vacuum in and out of the solenoid first. Out won't always have vacuum but if you work the gas you should feel it sometimes. With a vacuum pump you can check the EGR valve.

Maybe you missed this post. Sometimes you need to slow down and really read a post to digest what is being said. His post instructs to deal w/ and test the solenoid up line from the Valve first. That being said, in addition to checking the solenoid, I would suggest removing the EGR valve, cleaning it & the air intake port ways where it mounts for obstruction & it's easier to check it's actuator diaphragm for leakage while it's off. At Idle, the ERG vale should be closed so the EVP sensor could probably care less if you disconnect it. If you were riding in the engine compartment and accelerating, it might be a different story. But "we" wouldn't do that, would "we"! The EGR supplies secondary air. so it seems strange that lack of extra air would cause a lean condition, but that secondary air also cools the combustion chambers to inhibit uncontrolled detonation. Checkout this link for further enlightenment &/or confusion:http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=43

Follow the Vac hose that feeds the EGR Valve. That's what supplies Vac to the EGR valve. "JCMS" explained the regulators normal behavior. Here is a link for more info: http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=43

On my 4.9 it's on the drivers side rear of the valve cover. Just follow the vacuum hose from the EGR valve to the solenoid.
