rough idle trouble code 556
how do i test the pump? the pump runs when i run a ground wire to the relay does this mean the pump is good? if it changes nething my truck just has single tank not the dual tank setup
when i have the ground wire hookd to the fuel pump relay and the switch on its getting 12volts to the pink/black wire on the plug for the pump and the yellow wire for the gauge is getting power, and the black and orange wires are getting ground.
i run a code scan again because i wasnt thinking and i left that ground wire run to the relay while i run the first test so thats probably why i was gettin the 556 and 542 code. i left the battery cable off for about 10mins and run another scan with the ground wire unhookd and i didnt get any codes this time

It doesn't really matter if the fuel pump always runs, it's supposed to while the truck is running. It's not making the truck flood because it's always running. Yes there is a problem there but that's not why it's flooding. The fuel pressure regulator returns excess fuel back to the tank so there's probably a problem there. The return line could also be clogged. I would think there's some wiring issues for the fuel pump relay problem. I'd test the signal wire for ground right at the computer. That wire may also be melted to a positive wire and that's why you're getting positive.
that makes sense ill check the return line tomorrow 2 see if its clogged.
we removed the loom off the harness and followed the lightblue/orng wire from the relay box up to the test port and then to the computer and it looks fine we even cut the wire at the computer plug and its getting a positive charge right out of the computer it was around 2-3 volts

It is possible the computer could be fried. If it were my truck I'd try a junkyard one. Your injectors could be stuck open too. Using a fuel pressure gauge hooked to the test port on the rail you can discover a lot.
gas squirts out when i push in the valve on the fuel rail.
i checkd the return line and it was clogged up i tried to blow threw it with the air hose and it was completely clogged i blew a second time and i heard sumthin in the tank and then it cleared out so i guess whatever was in the line blew out. im gonna drop the tank 2morrow and clean it out.
i exchanged the computer for a new one yesterday so i cant try it till the other one gets here monday, i dnt think this will fix the relay problem but it should run better now

i dropped the tank 2day to clean it out and the return line itself isnt clogged up. i pulled the pump out of the tank and tried to blow threw the return line on it and its not blowing threw, is this normal, is there a valve in there?
