remote starter?
i put one in my 95 a few years ago. it is very easy.
i used a bulldog remote starter. i think they now have wiring harnesses that you can plug in, instead of cutting into the wires direcly. it took me about 2 hours to find, cut, and splice all the wires in.

Hi Myford,
I've installed remote starters for more than 20 years and have my own professional shop in Nebraska. www.westendaudioandupholstery.com
Do yourself a favor and spend a little more for a better quality product up front. Remote starters are definitely one of those products that you get what you pay for.
Search for brands such as Compustar (my favorite) or Viper, Python, Avital, Autopage, Clifford. Stay clear of brands such as DesignTech, MyStart, Bulldog, or Ready Remote. It's not to say that people haven't had success installing these in the past, but the odds of failure, or damage to your vehicle are higher than normal.
Your particular truck is actually fairly simple, and if you leave yourself plenty of time and follow the instructions to the letter, you should be fine. Keep in mind, these companies write their instructions with an assumption that you are a professional installer, so some things may not be mentioned in the install manuals. Read the instructions and then read them again before you even take the control module out of the box. Then if you don't understand something, you can find an answer before you start, rather than when the truck is torn apart, and suddenly won't start.
The good thing is that you will not need a "Bypass Module" for this vehicle. There is no transponder based anti-theft system on a Ford truck until 1998/9.
If you want specifics for wire colors and where to find them, just drop me an e-mail, and I can get that info to you.
Remember, just plan ahead... take your time... solder your connections, and it should work flawlessly for years to come!
