Default Really need some help

Long story short i installed a three inch body lift. i don't ever wanna experience it again. i have a 1996 f150 eddie bauer eddition. 4x4 automatic, push button 4x4. after i had the whole thing installed i took it for a test drive. when i started it the 4x4 and 4x4 low lights were on. i pushed the button and they turned off. continued to drive it down the road. everything was fine that i remember seeing. i shut it off and then took it for another drive 5 minutes later. i saw that the spedometer wasn't working, the off light for the over drive on the gear selector was flashing. the check engine light was on. both 4x4 lights came on. i pushed the button and they turned off but they came back on 5 seconds later. i would greatly appreciate any and all advice. i know its probably some connection that got stretched while lifting it but i couldn't find anything obvious. thanks in advance for any help.

sounds like a ground issue or wiring issue to me...you just gotta look and find it

Did you hook your grounds back to the frame/cab? Body lifts are easy if you follow the directions.....

i didnt check all of the grounds that well. i was thinking about that earlier. i'll keep checking all the connections. where does the speedometer get its reading from? the transmission? hopefully scanning for codes will help find some of the issues. another thing is that i had to replace the whole radiator support. i know i took a couple grounds off there that might not have a good connection due to the paint. thanks again

Speedometer and transmission both get their signal from the VSS on the rear differential.

the truck was shifting fine. didn't seem like it was acting differently. i'll check the grounds on the radiator support. i hope that fixes it. i need this truck running monday. i couldn't find any loose connections to the transmission and transfer case. do the 6 to 8 inch long braided metal cables with the clips on each end do anything to help ground the truck? sorry if thats a bad explanation. thanks

I checked all of the grounds and finally found the problem. the ground that connects to the radiator support on the upper right hand side wasn't making a good connection due to the paint on the new radiator support i put on the truck. everything is great now. thanks to all the guys above with the advice
