Default questions..

alright, have a few questions relating to my exhaust..
and im gonna be a junior in hs so money is tight.

1. true duals: if i just cut the cat off and run some piping from the pipes already off the manifold, how would this sound?

2. its either that or i buy some glasspacks and put them on as well.

thoughts?
thanks a ton.

i assume you dont have to worry about emissions testing or anything. with that said, its going to be depending on what engine you're running. and the diameter of pipe you're going to run. 2.5in sounds a lot different (TO ME) than 2.25in. personally i'd run the glass packs just for a smoother sound. but there are alot of people on here who run just pipes.

Why does everyone ask how will it sound. It will sound louder. To me its annoying and raspy. I prefer deep mellow rumble from a 3" chambered muffler, but that's just subjective. If you want to hear it do a Google search or check car shows and cruise nights till you find the sound you like. Performance is something you can measure and we can give factual objective advice, however no one seems to care what works well on the exhaust ,they just want loud. Ok done preaching for now.

When I took my truck in to get pipes I got dual but not true dual. Cause it costs more and doesn't make too much of a difference my truck is pretty loud for a 4.6 but it all depends on the pipe the engine and if you leave the cats in. I think 04 and older have 4 cats and anything newer have just 2. But I heard to take out the top ones it interferes with ur computer system unless you get a bypass which is like 1200. (I think) hope it helps. but yea google if all else fails or local custom shop

What he said... 2 1/2" catback with a magnaflow will give your best performance and sound assuming a stock V8

In that case, get a chambered or turbo style muffler. A 300 sounds like a straight pipe tractor when you straight pipe it and glasspack don't make much difference.
