Also... sometimes a little butane torch used for soldering plumbing can give you enough heat to help set it free.

Clean everything up, get a light and a mirror and look for the leak. AutoZone loans out a radiator tool that pressurizes the system. It goes on in place of the cap and has a hand pump. Pump up to @14 psi and you should see the fluid squirting out of the leak.

Thermostat may seize open or close when it over heats happened to me on road had to hammer a screwdriver through it to get home never have changed it though don't need one in S. Florida.
Or radiator is clogged up how's the water flow running with cap open look inside while running.

Check for flow. Run up to operating temp and see that the coolant is flowing. Goose the throttle and check for collapsed hoses. Feel the hoses for soft spots. Check for debris on the radiator blocking air flow. Check for fan and clutch operation. Check drive belt. Check codes. Check the temp gauge operation. If all these tests pass drive around near home and watch the temperature. See what makes it overheat. Idling, cruising high speed low speed etc. You need to get more information to know what's wrong.
