Default overheating problem

please help....94 f150 il6... overheated on highway made it to station wher i found rust colored water all over engine compartment...let cool and made it home...started to replace thermostat and head of top bolt broke off...left it and have been driving around town fine untill tried highway again and it overheated again...again made it home and same problem....dont have tap tools...is it the thermostat and is the bolt threaded all the way through......any sugestions will help,,, thanks

I don`t mean to be mean,but you broke the bolt and expect it to hold. What color is the oil.

oil is fine and no i know its not gonna stay i dont have tap tools or torch to fix if i cant get it out.....dont know if its threaded all the way thats y i didnt attempt to take other one off yet

No the bolt does not go all the way though. You need to drill it out. Once drilled some times they come right out. Take the other bolt out and see how deep the hole is. Don`t know if the other hole is the same depth or not so work slow. Measure how thick the bolt is and drill accordingly. Easy out kits can be cheap. Hope your head gasket is ok.

Some heat and an easy out usually do the trick. Use a center punch so you can drill in the middle of the bolt.

its rusty colored water and is the thermostat hosing threaded

If the bolt is not broke off flush after you remove the t stat housing get some vice grips and pb blaster and try to get it out. The stat housing is not threaded. Your coolant system needs to be flushed
