Default An odd problem I'm having

Hey there! I have a 95 5.0 2wd that im having some issues with. First off let me say that i am the third owner of this truck, it was my uncles then my dads and then mine. it has been very well taked care of with regular maintenance and fluid changes since it was bought new. but on with my problem, for about 2-3 months now when in park or neutral its been having trouble staying running. its kinda hard to explain without actually seeing it but it will drop the rpm way down and then kick back up to normal for a few seconds then drop back down and will usually die if it stays running for more than 30 seconds. and this is only when it is in park or neutral, when in gear it runs and drives like a champ. i replaced the fuel pump a while back aswell as the fuel filter on both tanks and replaced the alternator yesterday. im far from being a mechanic but perhaps someone can shed some kind of light on this situation.

Try replacing/ cleaning your IAC (Idle Air Control Valve). Its on top of the throttle body.

Ive got some old books and Ive got a copy of ALL DATA so i can get every spec, part number and diagram for about every vehicle make, model, engine, trans you name it from the 70's to todays vehicles.

It is the best thing a mechanic can have and I use it extensively.

I got this copy from an old instructor and i can upgrade it every year, updated TSB's and new cars every year. If you want you may be able to find a pirated version.... not saying that I'm proposing that

I would clean the throttle body, MAF (with MAF cleaner), make sure the air filter is new/clean, and then check for vacuum leaks before I started buying parts. Sometimes the AIC can be cleaned gently also.
