Default OBD1 scanner question

Just curious, I am using the blinking CEL method to scan my 1995 for codes. I have a check engine light that flashes 3 times at cold start up and then a stall. There are no codes stored. I checked several times.
Anyway, because the check engine light does this everytime I cold start I was wondering if an OBD1 scanner will scan in real time so that I could hook it up, start the truck up when its cold and see why the CEL flashes 3 times. Will an OBD1 scanner store events with key on and running?

Is the Snap On MT2500 the correct scanner. I see them on Ebay used with all kinds of accessories for $300.00 shipped.

Any OBDI scanner made for FORD vehicles should work.

I have this scanner + the extension cable which I think is necessary for 1 person operation.
This one does FORD only.

Note that the code reader also allows you to easily run various diagnostics tests which will give you more codes based on the results of each test.

Try again. Even with no codes you will get code 111.

I checked it 4 different times. All I ever get is a brief flicker and then 3 flashes with 2 second intervals, a 4 second pause, the 3 flashes repeat again, about 9 seconds go by and I get 1 flash, then nothing for a while.
