It depends on which engine and transmission you have, which determines the type of fuel injection on your '95.

Its a stock 5.0L fuel injected with an automatic transmission with the little overdrive button on the stock.
I have been second guesing my spark plug wire routing too now.
I followed the plug wire routing diagram that is on the radiator support of the truck.
I also found this one online http://www.supermotors.net/registry/media/470416_1

All the ones I read say that passenger side is 1,2,3,4 from front of truck to firewall. Driver side is 5,6,7,8 from front of truck to firewall.
The one I provided the link above shows the drivers side 5,7,8,6

Also, according to what I found online the distributor reads as follows..

From roughly the 12 oclock position (leaning towards the drivers side slighly) when I am facing the front of the truck and going around clockwise the positions read 1,8,4,5,6,2,7,3

I also read that the firing order when facing the front of the truck reads as follows.. This is what it should look like...

4---8
3---7
2---6
1---5

The link I provided above shows it like this...

4---6
3---8
2---7
1---5

I am totally confused now.

Your truck is MAF, so it is capable of misfire codes although you won't always get one. The wires tend to crossfire if they aren't ran just right.

Thanks. I am going to pickup some new wires tomorrow and route them in per the diagram I found online. I have all the factory separators.
It does seem like a crossfire from a plug wire because its random
The only thing that gets me is why it smooths out once the rpms pickup.
I would think that if its crossfiring it would do it at any speeds randomly.

What about the distributor pickup? Could that cause my problems?

It could, as could the ICM.

Since its getting brutally cold here and I have to work on the truck outside in the dark (its my daily driver) its getting a little frustrating.

Darn truck stalls after 30-40 seconds EVERYTIME I cold start it. I restart and its fine yet it still has a random stumble at idle and a random hesitation when accelerating from a dead stop and I already mentioned all the stuff I replaced.
Do you think my best bet is to start with new spark plug wires and make sure they are routed perfectly?
Also, is this the correct routing diagram?? It shows both valve covers and the routing for the wires. http://www.supermotors.net/registry/media/470416_1

Because its getting so inconvienient to work on it because its so cold I may have to take it to a repair shop. I need the truck to be running good. Stalling and missing isn't an option.

I'm talking about the way the wires intersect, not so much the firing order.

i fixed the hesitation. it was the spark plug wires. i bought new ones and routed them exactly like the manual shows with all the correct clips and the hesitation is gone!!The final thing to tackle is the cold start stall. I am pretty confident its te IACV. I took it off and throughly cleaned it and it helped alot but I think its shot and needs to be replaced. Thats tomorrow nights project.
