Default no a/c... help!!!!!

89 f150 5.0 my ac compressor will run, no cold air comes from the vents. I tried charging it, at first it wouldnt take, i drained it and re-charged it. Still no luck.

what kind of refrigerant did you use? i don't know much about a/cs but i know you can't mix the 2 up.

there is R12 which is mostly what you need and r124 or something that is the new stuff and that's all you can get nowadays.

theres a honda around here that says its got a v8 LOL check your condenser see if its clogged with out all the uber expensive tools hvac stuff is hard to figure it out. is the compressor kicking on at all?

Well i used the simple gauge that comes with the cabmn at walmart. It said it was ok...

I figured you used that type of gauge. Make sure the heat control cable is actually moving the door off heat. Real easy to check, just drop down the glove box and it's right behind it. Mine was stuck on heat for years and I didn't realize until I put in a/c.

Ok. Thanks. I will try that. But when i move that cable to heat it gets hot. And vice versa. Just not cold enough.

Okay. What was the actual reading on the gauge? I didn't put in enough freon so it wasn't getting cold enough for me. Then I added too much and it was even worse. The system is very picky.
