Default New Muffler

After replacing a bunch of parts to make my truck run properly, I want it to breathe and yell. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on a muffler. I have 2.25 in/out right now that is 29 inches long. And I realize bigger pipes would help, but I'm on a budget and don't have the money to do that right now. My truck is a 96 f150 with the 5.0 in it. Let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks!

I am putting summit single chamber race mufflers on mine (knockoff flowmaster super 10) and they sound awesome but I have headers and true duals also but I'd imagine they'd sound good on a single system as well. They are 34 dollars apiece I believe and look to be of good quality

I have the summit muffler. Great for the price. I got it on sale for about $25. I added about $30 worth of pipe clamps and hangers and fabed up a cat back system that goes from the factory 2.5 to 3 then to the 3" in out muffler and 90* out the side before the axle. Plenty of sound and no drone. Sounds better then other systems costing 3x as much and completely legal and smog free. For more volume drop the turnout and add a 4" flare.

I just went ahead and bought a thrush glass pack. From videos I've seen, they sound pretty good even on the 2.25" exhaust. Thanks for the suggestions though. I wish I had the skills and money to do the duals like y'all have. That's basically what I want to do eventually.

True duals are great. I had a shop do mine from the headers back and exiting straight out the back. Cost me $299.87 total. My pipe diameter is also 3". I'm putting the mufflers and tips on myself. The tips I bought are 4" X 18" chrome slant cut. I'm excited about this setup but the rain has prevented me from welding them on so I don't have a sound clip yet.

Wow dual 3" is a lot of pipe. General rule of thumb states on a 5.0 that would be enough to loose some torque. Although my bet is it's not enough to notice without a dyno as long as you ran a crossover.

Yeah it may have lost a little torque but like you said its not enough to notice. However top end power seems to have improved. The other day pulling onto the highway in the rain I was going about 35 and got on it and it just lit em up. Surprised me and my brother both it wouldn't do that before.

Just to follow up, I've had the muffler in for about a week and a half. Good rumble, but not loud enough. As soon as I pass emissions I'm going to work on taking out the cats to get the sound. Me and the buddy who took off the old muffler couldn't get it off the remainder of the tail pipe so we decided to dump the exhaust before the rear tire with pipe we picked up.
