Default New Headers?

Hello, I have a 1989 F150 XLT 5.0/302 and I just put some new headers on and I know it is suppose to sound different, but is it suppose to sound like a clacking when i give gas, it doesnt do it when im just cruising but when i give it gas it does ?

Thanks in advance

are they open headers? in other words do you have exhaust hooked up to them? Long tube or short tube headers?

They are leaking. It is tough to get headers to seal sometimes. If they are used they could be warped. There are special gaskets for headers also. Sometimes the factory gaskets just won't do the job.

It could be either. When the truck is cold start it and feel around for exhaust leaking. It will get hot quick so be careful.

make sure they're torqued down too. once you install them you have to go back over and check the torque at LEAST every other day for the first week or two.

if the bolts have come loose chances are the gaskets are blown out. I've never had luck with the mr gasket paper type header gaskets (went thru 3 sets in 2years), now i've beed using the dead soft aluminum type and i haven't had an issue in 3 years.
