Greetings newbie,
Prices vary considerably by region. There is an app called Pickup Trucks (and website called pickup trucks.com) and entering your zip code will get you a list of dealer sales in your area. Private sales are cheaper but beware driving it away means it's problems are all yours now. There is also a web site called Kelly Blue Book that can give you a ballpark idea. Make sure your trusted mechanic looks over anything you buy BEFORE you pay.

PS Forgot to add-- a 1996 truck with 75k miles is a different truck than a 1996 with 450k on the speedo.

not to mention a clean title and a car fax helps out a lot plus any documentation on services it has had and collisions. I would recommend a 1996 f150 just for the odb 2. and the inline 6 is bullet proof just not really fast.

I agree that the price will vary by region. I live in SLC Utah and picked up a '96 F-150, Super Cab, Short bed, Eddie Bauer 4X4 with the big 5.8 Liter with 214,000 miles for $2600. Runs like a new one. Good luck!!

i'm in Missouri and that same truck would run about 3500-4000
my buddy just sold that same truck with the 300 in it and a 5 speed for 3500.00 sold it in 3 days. and that is a private seller sale. dealers want 4k+ for them.
