Need help!!
I own a 1991 F150. I am restoring her and want to add rear speakers. She wasn't wired for rear speakers. How do I get them functioning properly(powered, grounded and hooked up to play sound)? Any help would be a blessing. I'm mechanical, not electrical...so I don't want to mess something up.

It is an aftermarket. It wasn't factory wired for rear speakers, so of course there isn't a power and ground for the speakers. I have speaker wire and I figured out the power, constant, dimmer, memory etc..the wires were cut before I got her.
So, I've been thinking about it, I will need to wire the new speaker wire directly to the wire pigtail that goes the head unit...its already powered and grounded through the wire harness...am I on track?

So all you have to do is figure out which wires on the aftermarket head unit are the +/- for the rear speakers and run wires directly to them. If they are not labeled then you can google the model number and you will find a manual with the diagrams.

Most modern head units have their wiring on their label, right on top. But it should also be in the install manual, and on the mfr's website.
But all '87-up F-series have factory radio wiring - did someone butcher your truck's wiring harness?

Yes they did, they cut the factory harness. I believe I have figured the harness out and bought replacement harnesses and attached them. It was an old farm truck..so poor thing was road hard and left out in the rain...
