Exclamation Need Help

I just got my 1991 Ford F150 and it did not come with a stero. I was wondering how much would it cost to buy a new one and how hard is it to set them up.

Thanks for your help

Depends on what kind of stereo ya want they have pretty cheap ones and really expensive ones so just go to a audio store and look at some buy one ya like if you're good with electronics it
Should be easy my cousin can do one in no time where as I'm electronically challenged and I just take mine to my cousin but if you can't do it you can always pay to have someone do it

If the harness is ok, you need a dash kit and wiring harness, then pick a stereo that fits the dash kit... You can find stereos as low as about 79.00 for a decent one and a couple thousand if you want to get crazy....

The hardest part of the job is already done for you...

That is getting the factory deck out.

As long as the factory wiring harness is still ok, installation is straight forward.

Pick out the Stereo you like, buy a wiring harness to mate with your factory one, solder the wires together as per the stereo manual, and the male wiring harness, and plug it all in.

It took me about 10 minutes to test and install my new head after I got the soldering done.

I did zero soldering and I can pull it, unhook, splice new speakers in, and rehook in about 15 minutes. It's not hard. Ya just gotta be competent enough to do it. Most wiring harnesses have it done for you once you plug in. Shove her in the dash kit, and you're good.

And never, ever pay a Best Buy flunky to install your stereo.

It is easy as can be. Follow the directions and get a proper kit and proper wiring harness adapter. Buy it from Crutchfield and they'll send you the install stuff you need with very good printed instructions for your specific vehicle for free.

It does not sound like it would be that hard to do. I could not emagine spending thousand dollers or more on just a stereo.

Thanks for everyones help

It's honestly very easy to install a radio. Main thing is getting a harness to connect the new radio to. I had the factory unit in my truck when installing, so I didn't need a kit, I just took the brackets off the factory unit and screwed it onto my aftermarket unit.
