Default Mpg???

Hey guys,
What kind of gas mileage should I expect out of my truck? It's a 94 4x4 302cu with 120,000 miles. I have read through some of the older post and see some people with as low as 9 and others saying they would be pissed if they they fell to 14. What gives?

I get 17 city/23 @ 65mph in my 87' 302 w/ 87k miles on it. At 80 mph I get 17-18 mpg w/ a 1,400 pound payload. I'd be p*ssed w/ 14mpg. Stock tires, Get it healthy, Do some minor upgrades, Keep well maintained = Good MPG! 9 mpg is a sick puppy.

I get a solid 8 mpg with 35s. I know part of it is tires and winter gas, but I got 10mpg with 31s last summer so I know I can do better. Slowly trying to figure it out now.

Already did seafoam, got a lot of looks and being pointed at from my neighbors

I do have to do a code scan though. And tomorrow all my ignition stuff is going on since I finally have a day off of work.

Good luck, take your time. You only have to do it right, once!

Trace their vac tubes, look for cracks, Make sure the the wires to the connectors haven't pulled out & not making contact w/ in the connector itself!
Those little b*stards seldom fail.

I completely forgot to check the wires going to the pump today, but when I was working in that area I did notice a round white connector that had nothing going to it. Could that be the connector for the smog pump? What exactly does the smog pump do anyways?

I get 12mpg... never any better, sometimes worse, I have put in new spark plugs, a K&N, coolant temp sensor, O2 sensor and bumped the timing.....

The truck has 67,000 miles on it, I think I am going to replace the catalytic converter or get rid of it....
