Default molding question

Im going to be doing some body work to my trucks, a 1987 F150 4x4 302 auto reg cab.

I dont have the truck here, but i was wondering whats the best way to get the molding off the truck? Starts at the front fender down the doors and box..
I have new molding so im not to worried if it get wrecked.

Also what about the F150 badges on the fenders? Them i need to get off but save.

Thanks!

I used a scraper to get under the edge of the molding, and start working it off, once I got enough up to grab it, I just pulled it off. I used a razor blade to scrape off the old tape. You can do the badges the same way, they have locating pins on them, though, so be careful. It took me about 15 mins to remove all the molding, and 2 hours to clean up all the tape residue.

I thought there might be, too, but it all just pulled right off. I think the truck looks cleaner without the moulding on it . There are screws that hold the chrome wheel well trim in place, other than that, you should be able to get it done easily.

Yeah i agree, I like the look better without the molding..

What about the mirrors? Do i have to take the door pannels off and go on the inside or do ya think i can just unscrew from the out side?

I haven't really looked at that, yet. I had my door panels off when I replaced the door speakers, but I wasn't really looking at the mirrors. There will probably be a nut or bracket that the mirror bolts to on the inside of the door, you will want to have the door panel off, I'm sure.

Default Further question

Im going to be doing the same thing to a 91 f150 reg cab and am scared Im gonna pull of the molding and find holes all down the side for clips. I assume the 86+ is the same but I figured I would ask the gurus first.

Thanks in advance

I have an 88 which is the same style as your 91... i took all the molding off mine.. theres no holes under it.. the only thing that will have holes under it is the f150 badges on the fenders...
