Default Module under the distributor going out?

it's one after another with my truck issues. After installing a new MAP sensor few days ago,all was fine until cpl nights ago.I stalled on the road after work.Sounded like it wasn't getting any gas.Buddy of mine swung by,put gas in it and still wouldn't run.It really felt as if it had no gas, when in fact it did.

Stepdad, autozone and someone on here all mentioned it could the distributor going bad/out.is it? we can't locate the module either. It's ususally below on the side of the distributor, but it's not. There are 2 diff kinds,I must have the other type, but where is it? is it on the coil? is it the module going bad or something else?

92 ford f150 xlt 4.9L straight6 ...a recently added new fuel pump/filter few months ago, coil too.ANy additional info.let me know and ill throw it on here.

There's the distributor pick up that's inside of the distributor, you have to pull the whole distributor to change it. This is what was wrong with my truck, it was doing the same thing as yours. ( would stall going down the road, then would not start) I would recommend getting a reman. Distributor because it is a pita to get the gear off the distributor with out breaking/ chipping it, I bought a reman distributor for about $70 from summit racing.

my module isnt on the distributor, its on the far right side (driver side) clear in the very back, mounted on the side.Took it to autozone and had it checked.Turns out the module is good! we put all new spark plugs, spark wires, new distributor and the thing that spins around on the inside of it yest.Took it for a spin, broke down.im like wtf now??? buddy i know dragged me home using his tractor.Took the pump out, looked down into the tank....*no gas*...empty.Still,monday night i broke down and it acted like it didnt have any gas.We put gas in it that night (me,highway patrol, and my other buddy) and we all saw the gas go in.still acted like it wasn't getting any gas.

Been really busy all day today.Got enough gas to run 5 miles to the next town.If it breaks down again, then I dont know.I'm seriously running outta ideas and clues here.

Next door neighbor (lady) knows tons about fords and f150s.Found that out last night,i couldnt believe it! she says if i cleaned the MAF (not the MAP) sensor,it'll run good.her ex spent tons of cash fixing his ride and it still kepted breaking down. They cleaned the MAF.Ever since,no issues. She says I have in my truck somewhere, autozone says i dont.ive googled pics on this, doesn't show anything familiar airflow wise on my truck.IF i happen to have it,where would it be "Precisely"?

4.9 (300C.I.) never had a MAF sensor. It is much more likely the pick up coil (hall effect sensor) inside the distributor is going bad. When they go bad they become heat sensitive. Truck will start. But, as soon as motor reaches operating temp, pick up coil quits sending to tfi ignitor and motor dies. Without signal from pick up coil there's no spark or fuel delivery.

No, his '92 never had a MAF sensor but '96 4.9s did.

The module still can be bad. They often test good when cold but not when hot.

we installed a brand new module, distributor, spark plugs, plug wires and the thing that spins under the distributor cap.I doubt the the module was even tho they may appear to be not good.Coulda easily been for all i know.I doubt the wires were bad.Plugs,on the other hand, coulda been the culprit or the pick up coil.I think it was either the pick up coil or spark plugs.i put my money on it.

today it ran good to the next town and back.no issues other than the brakes attempting to lock on me.I rechecked them yest, both sides look "A" ok.emergency brake giving me huge issues.ill post a new topic one that one tho
