Default MAP EFI to Carb?

I'm puilling my engine out of the 93' this week. I would like to do 350-375 hp, and i know the the MAP EFI system won't take it. It'll just choke the motor back. Could I just stuff a carb on the thing, and call it good? as long as my VSS is stil working, thats all I really need the computer for, right? The truck is a 5spd manual BTW. Thanks.

If you have a manual and want to carb it, just get a mechanical speedo.

So are you saying you don't believe an efi can produce 375HP or that you don't know how to build a 375HP efi? Beautiful truck by the way.

I'm just assuming he doesn't know how. Or he does know how and doesn't want to deal with it. I have a lot of efi parts laying around. Two complete mass air harnesses, two maf sensors, a few ecu's, and lots of info on the systems if you're interested..

Yeah, I'm pretty aware of the fact I'd have to do a mass air swap. Last time I checked, it was a pretty expenseive undertaking. A bunch of time has passed since I looked into that, sooooo....if you have any suggestions, I'd absolutely love to keep it efi.

With my limited experience all fi stuff is overpriced and overly complicated. I like the system when it's running right, but it is very difficult to work with. So I'd talk to someone who knows more about it. I have the stuff, so just pm if you want any of it.

You shouldn't really have to swap to mass air. The map is a little limited but still functions pretty well. Bigger throttle body higher rate injectors fuel regulator Some good heads. A hot cam and exhaust upgraded. The big expense would be flashing a chip for the ecu. But I think the power and consistency of the efi will be well worth it and should be able to shut down most carb set ups.

Pull the wiring harness at a junkyard for the MAF. I could get everything for the swap from a junkyard for under $100.

Do you need to change out the ecu to run the maf
