I have an 89 F-150 4.9, 4x4, 5spd. I was wondering how to identify which trans I have and if it's necessary to know when ordering a new mount.

Should be the M5OD. Casting ribs are vertical and horizontal. If it's the ZF it will have diagonal casting ribs.
