Default Major Malfunction Help!

Ok so I have a 92 f150 5.0 e4od trans with 120k miles on it. I've been having majpr issues with it and don't have the money to go to shops and have them figure it out. I jumped timing about a month ago and clogged my fuel filter so i replaced the plugs, wires, filter and timing chain. Nothing helped. Here's what's wrong: It sounds like it's not getting gas when i try to start it unless i just got done driving it. The idle is a little off but not bad. If i try to give it more than 1/4 pedal it stalls... More recently i've had to baby it big time because it sounds like my lifters are slapping the hell outta my valve covers but it only does it at different rpm's and only after it's been driven for 10 mins or so. I also think i've heard main bearing knocking but again, only after about 10 mins of driving... My oil level is fine and i checked the dipstick and saw nothing on it besides oil so i'm at a loss. Oh and when i'm done driving it smells like burnt oil. any help would be greatly appreciated... I love my truck but right now it's getting to be an annoyance. thanks.

are you sure you set your timing back right? Sounds like your timing is whacked out. You have to pull the spout sensor before you set it.

i was driving a little slower because it was raining out and my back tires are starting to look like drag radials and hit a good sized pot hole doing about 20. forgive my lack of knowledge but what is a spout sensor? as far as i know the timing was set right.

The spout sensor is really just a plug or shunt that connects two wires together that come out of the distributor. Pulling that plug disables the computer's ability to adjust the timing curve. If you try to set the timing without pulling this plug, you messed up just like I did the first time. This will put your timing all goofy.

Like they say . check the time again. the spout connector should be by the igniton module. pull the spout plug out and recheck time . hopefully thats ur problem.
