Default Let's Talk Distributor Caps

Regarding distributor caps and rotors, are there certain brands that work best on these engines?

I currently have the tan colored Accel distributor cap (brass terminals) and rotor on my truck. I have owned the truck for a little over a year and that was one of the first things I did to it, but I have taken the cap off several times over the last year to scrape the corrosion off of the terminals. I checked it today due to my truck stumbling upon startup and it's corroded again. It's pretty thick. I honestly don't know what to think. I have been told that humidity (yea, me and this humidity stuff again) will cause a distributor cap to corrode faster than normal. Am I just expecting too much out of a distributor cap with brass terminals?

I hold Accel products in high regards, and I've used the cap over the past year, but I don't really feel warm and fuzzy about the cap and rotor like I do their wires. I wonder is it just simply time to replace it.......

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Go to advanced auto. Get an MSD cap. 35.99 but worth every single penny.

Interesting you say that, I was looking at the red MSD cap and rotor earlier on their website.

MSD Cap/Rotor/Coil and autolite/motorcraft copper plugs and MSD high output wires are a very popular mod around here.

Did you only buy it because it looks pretty? They are nice caps but be careful buying things that looks shiny and purty.

I ended up going with a BWD Select distributor cap from Advance Auto. It has a very snug fit and has brass terminals. I'll probably go back for a MSD later on, but that Accel cap had to go. The fit of the cap was not good at all.

I assume you understood when I said best looking cap I had that seen that it meant it had brass and not aluminum terminals. Yes it looks pretty also but I do not care how something or someone looks it is how they perform or how they are on the inside.

Pretty is as pretty does!!!!

Standard and MSD are the best caps, the brass is a little better quality than the cheaper brass caps. They wont burn out as often.
