Default Junkyard E4OD

I need a new transmission. I want to find a cheap one used in a junkyard. My local pick and pull has a lot of older F150, 1987-91 (with the amber corner lights). Will those E4ODs work in my 1995? What about Super Duty? There is also an ambulance there that may be a good donor. I think it is a F350.

Does the door sticker say what tranny is installed?

It will be difficult for me to crawl under the trucks because of the junkyards hours are the same hours I am at work. So I go at lunch in my work clothes.

Is there any obvious signs that I am looking at a E4OD?

Thanks for the info. I think Crazy Ray's has a no jacking policy. Meaning you can't jack up their cars. So to get under it they bring the huge forklift and raise it up and then toss a bunch of wheels under it. I sure hope they help with the removal.

Thanks Skidrow, this was just what I was looking for.

I think you're limited to near '94 and up. They changed the transmission plug somewhere around there, but some have also said you can swap your plug to the older transmission.

The main transmission plug on the side, not the MLPS. And yes you need one from a 4x4 if yours is 4x4.

Great thanks.

One more question. How much does this beast weigh? Can one man lift or move it?
