Default Instrument Cluster Compatibility

I have a 1995 F150. If I want to swap in a cluster with a Tach, do I need a 1995? I have a manual, so can I use one with AT, and just cover up the shifter display?

As far as I can tell from the bits and pieces I have picked up, there are only a few that will swap.

From what I understand, 95 can use a 94 and 95 cluster, 96 can only use 96, and 93 would use that and a 92. I'm not sure though of the manual/automatic thing. I'll be doing that swap soon, too.

I believe you would have to know what it was pulled from, there may be a manufactured date stamp (think two clock shapes with single hands) on them. Yes you can swap auto/manual, you just have to switch out the assembly in the middle that either has or doesn't have the gear selector on it.

From what I was told by the guy who sold me mine, they are all interchangeable. 92 to 96. Tach or no tack, man or auto, Hope that helps. Good luck.

That cant be true, if its from a manual it cant attach to the AT!

I have heard that 92-96 works, and that 92-93, 94-95, 96 are the only compatible ones....

The only difference is on a manual the gear selector doesn't have anything behind it, regardless of what it comes out of they both should have a slot for you to use the gear indicator on an auto.

keep in mind that 95 is a split year between obd1 and obd2 so you must know which you have because they dont interchange
