Default instrament cluster?

i got a 93 f150 4.9l no tach and 127k on it and i was in a pick and pull junkyard and was looking at cash for clunker cars and seen a 93 f250 4.9l with tach with only 67k on it. can i just plug in and go with cluster or do i have to get the oil pressure sending unit? i heard i had to get the pressure sending unit that matches that cluster.

do i have to get documentation on it if i change it?

i outa kick that owners ***** for trading in that truck nice condition too.

The tach is wired already, you just plug and play. If your cluster has a gauge and the new one has a gauge then you don't need the sending unit. If yours had a light only then the sending unit is different. A light sending unit works the opposite way that a gauge one does.

Oh, and here anything over 10 years old they don't record the mileage unless you make them do it.

are you saying if the cluster had an oil light sending unit then i would need a different one. mine does have and oil guage. the cluster is only 24$ nice price for plug and play.
im going to stop at dealership tomorrow and see what i need to do for the mileage issue. cause my friends friend had switched out the dash on his cheby truck and sold it and then the guy who bought it came back and sued him cause the mileage was messed with. so the kid basically bought the truck back without receiving the truck.

Here, the only time mileage is recorded is when the title changes hands.

If your cluster had a light only and the new one had a gauge then the sending unit is different. If they both have gauges then the sending unit is the same. The issue with the mileage with your friend is easily solved. When a vehicle is sold there is a box (on our titles) that you check that says "odometer discrepancy, mileage shown is not the actual mileage".

Yes, that's when mileage is recorded but if the vehicle is over 10 years old they don't record it anymore unless you make them. If you don't make them then it's marked as "odometer exempt".

thats why you either dont sell it and drive it until it falls apart or sell it "AS IS" and tell them the dash has been changed...those 2 words release any liability...

if you're truly concerned about milage, the speedometers should interchange and you'll retain your original milage reading. I swapped one out in my 92 from a 95. Had to switch a few of the wires arround, but kept the original speedo. It's really not a big deal even if u have to change a few things around to work right.

Here in Maryland there is no exemption for vehicles over 10 years. I pulled out my title and checked the back. There is a space to enter the mileage of the vehicle and you attesting that the mileage is the actual mileage of the vehicle, unless you check one of two boxes. The first box if for mileage that is over the mechanical limit of the odometer. This would apply to vehicles that had the analog odometer that did not accomodate anything over 99,999.9 miles. The second box is for stating that the odometer reading is not the actual mileage of the vehicle itself. That would apply if you replaced the odometer, for whatever reason.
