installing tranny help please

Default installing tranny help please

hello i have a question about installing my tranny, i have the rear crossmember still installed and i cant get the tranny back up, can someone help? i tried and put the back of the tranny up first, what do you guys recommended? its a 1988 ford f150 xlt lariat with v8 351 and c6 tranny.

how?I have the 4 bolts removed but it wont slide out

4 that hold it to the brackets right? 2 for tranny mount and 4 that hold it to the frame of the truck?

yep. It will need some persuasion from a BFH to come out, those brackets are kinda holding it there.

Yea, then I think it's connected to some other arm type thing that bolts to the piece of metal that the tranny actually bolts to, having a hard time describing what I'm trying to say, but that's where the other 4 come from. Make sure when you put the tranny back in that your tourqe converter is seated properly if you have an auto.

Ok just saw its a c6, yea make sure the torque converter is seated properly, and check it one more time when you have it in position and about to boot up the bell housing, if it isn't seated properly you'll be pulling the tranny back out and paying ~$500 for a new pump.
