Default Install a tach?

Well, the 302/351 swap fell through, the wiring harnessess were COMPLETELY different and would have to have been totally swapped, not to mention the rear differential, speedometer cables, gear shifter (bc of the overdrive cancel switch), probably the instrument cluster, and several other things, so we're going to try to find a 351 from a 92 model so everything should be the same.

On a different note, my 92 f150 didn't originally come with a tach but I really want one, preferably a stock one on the instrument cluster. If I buy an instrument cluster from a 92 model f150, would there be a connector for the tach and would it work correctly?

Thanks

Plug n' Play dude! Plug in the cluster connector, and you'll be seeing 675 rpm's at Idle. Just carefully switch out to odometer unit to keep the PO-PO happy! My donor Instrument panel came w/ a Tripometer I also wanted, so I carefully bent back the Barrel stop on the back of the odometer, spun the barrels til the #'s were in the ballpark of matching mine. Bent the bar back. Good to go!

Awesome! Fortunately the odometers are within 7k miles of each other, so it should be safe, thanks!

Occasionally, you will find the oil gauge on the new panel showing a below normal reading. Just switch the small oil sender unit w/ the donor truck's unit. I told the guy's at the yard it was part of the instrument panel "setup" and they just let me have it.

I am guessing the donor truck had MAF system and the wiring is a tad different than the Speed Density system...

Just don't get too carried away. You can't stretch a mechanical odometer into an electronic readout!
