Question ignition timing proble??

I have an 89 f150 4.9 i6 and when I check the timing with the light and mark on the wheel it only shows up on the 2 and 5 cylinders on the 1 3 and 6 its on the bottom of the wheel as in under the truck and on the 4 cylinder its on the oposite side of the timing marks. Does anyone have any idea what's hapening? The truck still runs.

Don't know what you're talking about. You set timing with #1.

Ya I know that but on the guage thing that you use to set timing it only reads 10* on th 2nd and 5th cylinder, when I check the 1st cylinder it shows up on the side of the pully that the guage isn't on

The I6 has two pointers. You need to use the one on the passenger side.

Balancer could be bad. Bring #1 to TDC on compression and check the marks.
