ignition switch WTF????!!!!!

Default ignition switch WTF????!!!!!

so im replacing my ignition switch and unplug it and inside it looks like it has been on fire four pins on the right hand side of the switch the plastic is all melted and black WTF? any help will be greatly appreciated

WTF indeed! Check your entire electrical system visually (as much as possible) & look for other hot spots, where a hot wire may have gone to ground. Including under the hood.

If/when you install the replacement, keep an eye on it initially. Your problem may be specific to that component. Maybe not.

The good news, it didn't blow a fuse. Which is also the bad news!

ok so i put my new switch in hopefully my truck doesn't burn down lol............

found some burnt wires in the passenger side kick panel dont know what they go to or what there for..........any ideas??? (brown plug)

Part of a virtual cornucopia of wires, or just a few? Gauge size?

im gonna take pics........i pun in a new heater core and was running it to get warm before i started the switch i noticed when i unpluged the ignition switch it was kinda warm..........after new switch it been running for 30 mins and the plug is not warm idk

Maybe I've had too much coffee, or not enough, but I don't understand what your saying. Could you give it another shot?

Ok. I think you mean it's much better now as far as the plug not generating heat since the new switch was installed?
