Default how to test iac

i need to know how to test the iac. My trottle has been sticking so i bought a new throttle cable all that did was take the slack out of the cable. I was reading and i saw that it could be the iac. the emissions have been took off and all that i left hooked up is the egr, but all three solenoids on the driver side valve cover are still plugged into the harness but only the egr solenoid has vacuum going to it.

if the iac checks out good what else could be causing my sticky throttle? It is a pain when im shifting gears in town, since once i push the clutch in it jumps up to 3000 rpms until i let the clutch back out.

Check your throttle plate inside the throttle body for gummy carbon build up. If there is noticeable gummy build up take some throttle body cleaner and clean it out with a toothbrush (cleaned on or off the vehicle). If that doesn't solve it you have some sort of issue with the linkage arm and spring on the throttle body or you have a sleeve bearing issue with something clogged/gummed/stuck in the bearings. If all else fails I would go down to the junkyard and buy a throttle body. Oh and by the way, check the pedal with the linkage disconnected aswell, see if thats the culprit.

just started the truck and unplugged the iac and it died. So does that mean the iac is good or does the engine have to be warm before i test it?

the heads have been plugged where the crossover tube was connected. The tube that comes up from the cat into the air system was plugged when i had the cat cut off and my new exhaust ran. The smog pump is disconnected. When i had the engine out to rebuild it i found dry rotted vacuum lines and the air system tubes were broke off at the valves plus the cross over tube was rusted through.
