Hmmm. I wonder if these would be good replacements for the instrument panel bulbs too - I have a few of those out as well.

They are great replacements for the instrument panel bulbs. I ordered some blue ones from Amazon as well and replaced those. Plus with the blue, it makes a real pretty color through the green tint, so you don't necessarily have to scrape the green tint off to make it look good. This is what I ordered for the instruments. These are something like $11 and you get 30 of them. They're pretty good quality too. (Out of all 30 only 1 DOA) I just used all the leftover bulbs to do all of my interior lighting in blue once I got done with the instruments.

Been reading up on LED's the past few days. This looks to be in my future. Is there any reason to get anything brighter? i.e. more SMD's?

not that I know of. I used 5-SMD lights all over my truck except for my turn signals, headlights, and taillights. They're plenty bright enough for me, and certainly brighter than the original factory ones.

 

That blue looks good.

 

Replaced the 5 cluster illumination bulbs and the 2 in the climate controls. Much brighter and I love them.

Undecided so far on the cargo/door/dome/license plate lights. They are different, that's for sure.

They definitely do not work for the check engine/abs/battery lights - they stay on and never turn off. Might have worked for others but decided to just leave the original bulbs for those.

Also they are polar, so if you don't put them in the right way you have to reverse them in the socket. Big PITA for the cluster. Have to plug it back in to see which ones work and which don't. Luckily for the ones that don't work, you can just reach behind and pull the socket, rotate it 180, and you are good to go. THEN screw everything back in.

i dont need so many, is there anywhere that would sell just like 5? i have a red and black theme so i would want red for the instruments, and white for any others, dome, lic plate, etc.
