Default High mount stop light

My high mount/third brake light and one of the reverse/cargo lights is out. I thought it would be a simple removal of the two screws but that SOB isn't coming out - it feels like it is caught on something. What am I missing?

I had to pry on mine. Along with a F350 ( looks the same ) there's a gasket that is stuck to the cab. Try pulling on it or a flat head to it and see if you can't get it off

Alrighty - I was afraid if I pulled any harder I would be heading to the wrecking yard for a replacement, which might happen anyways given its condition lol.

Spent a little time googling around and apparently its a common problem. Given how hot that dome light bulb gets after just a few seconds I am not too surprised these get hot too.. Luckily a buddy has a spare.

If it melts again I will probably get an LED. For now I got a spare and some new bulbs and she works well.

You can put LED bulbs in your spare one, if you want to keep the original look.

I ordered these from Amazon a while back to replace my license plate lights and third brake light and cargo lamp (mine were burnt out and had melted the housings as well). Can't really beat $4.00 for 10 of them, even if shipping costs almost as much as the bulbs themselves. $7 is still a LOT cheaper than just buying 2 bulbs anywhere else...
