Default help.. trans leaking from top.

i have a 1995 302 4R70W auto trans.. replaced the pan because i thought thats what was leaking.. i drained the torque converter and the manual says it holds a little over 14 quarts, well i got 10 quarts back in it and was gonna stop and check the level when i heard fluid running out onto my mat that i was laying on under the truck, it was running out of this that comes from the top on the drivers side (took the pic real quick so ya'll could see, it didnt do this for long) Name: securedownload-3.jpg

Size: 22.8 KB and dripping off of all sides of the pan, i could see clearly that it was coming from above the pan. is it possible that i over filled it and it was draining or somthin? or what is this? thanks.

That's the vent. They tend to spit fluid out of there when overfilled or overheating.

Your picture kinda sucks. Looks like that ends near the pan? The vent tube isn't usually that long.

Yea. If it's the vent it starts on the top rear of the bellhousing.

that on the left is the front of the bell housing for reference. that tube goes straight to the top and i cant get my head high enough to tell exactly where it goes.

After draining the torque converter and removing and replacing the pan....
You started adding fluid - got 10 quarts in and it started pissing fluid out the overflow...... If you have not started the truck to let the pump circulate the fluid and refill the Torque converter - that is your problem.

Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and start the engine - with your foot on the brakes cycle through all the gears and then re-check the level - my guess is the remaining fluid will go in the trans....
