Default check valve?

So I had to go out of town for work for a couple weeks. I just got back and got a new fuel pump. I am going to put it in this weekend. I do have a question though, I cant seem to get the check valve off the old pump. I am using a cheap set of gas line removal tools but I cant seem to get it off. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

get the good line tools is one way to start, get some PB Blaster too and soak it down for about 30 min.

I usually flush mine with brake cleaner first. And yes, flush, not spray. lol. I just keep spraying until it runs clean. You have to be careful with these connectors because you can break the o rings inside relatively easily if you push hard enough, but I usually push on the tool inward toward the connecter while rotating either the tool or the connector itself. They are definitely a pain and not a quick connect at all...haha.

the way i do it is hard to explain but works really good. for stubern and stuck ones
i've got the nicer aluminum tools set
first i try to pull them apart(like if the tool was there) as far as i can
then i push the tool in as far as i can by hand, then i lock a small pair of vice-grips behind it DO NOT LOCK IT OVERLY TIGHT,
then place one hand behind the vice-grips between your middle and ring finger
then i pull the other side of the connector onto the tool with a little more force.
while pulling your other had towards the vice-grips
of course this is after it has soaked with PB Blaster.

and dont forget to bleed the line pressure too.....

I still cant get the check valve off. I cant seem to ge the tool up in the check valve due to the bend in the fuel pipe coming out of the pump. I really dont want to have to buy a new one. I checked on the price of the check valve, can you believe that it is 100 bucks.
