Default Help !!

I have changed tps, egr, everything is checking good, no codes. Tranny shifts hard and wont go into overdrive. 1990 f150 supercab, 4x4 longbed. 5.0 AOD. This thing is driving me nuts. Replaced the filter i. The tranny and it looks like there might be too much fluid, could that be it ? Crazy !

Welcome to the site!
Too much fluid is not a good thing - something about aeration and frothing, suggest to get a long piece of fuel line and siphon the excess out through the filler tube to save dropping the pan. What color / condition is the fluid as compared to the ideal pretty cherry red?

No its brown and smells a little burnt, was going to change the fluid again, seems i only changed the fluid in the pan last time, need to drain the torque converter to i hear. Oh well live and learn right.the crazy thing shift great 1-2-3 but when you give it gas it down shifts to 2nd, going down hill with no pedal it will hit OD, but as soon as you touch the pedal it down shifts to 2nd, revs high.

The AOD transmission has that rod between the throttle linkage and the transmission, doesn't it? Is that rod hooked up and properly adjusted?

Has this transmission always acted that way?

No it just started acting thus way, it has been shufting great, now this. Rod seems to be adjusted right, just the way it was when i was driving it, had to replace the tps and the egr valve but that should not have affected the tranny i dont think ?

If you have the AOD transmission instead of the E4OD, I don't think the TPS would affect it. But it would definitely affect the shifting if you had an E4OD.

It sounds like you knew about this rod between the throttle linkage and the transmission? So you for certain have the AOD transmission and not the E4OD?
