Default heater core

My neighbor may have solved my disappearing coolant mystery for me. He said when he was working on his tahoe his girlfriend asked why there was water running out of the passenger side. He said his heater core had a hole in it. And when i pulled my floor mats out the other day there was a bit of mold on the drivers side. Ive pressurized the system before and i have been underneath changing the oil with NO leaks. So where is the heater core, and how can i tell where my leak is from. My truck runs dry because i cant keep coolant/water in it.

Heater core should be in behind the glove box. Takes longer to gather the necessary tools for the job than actual re/re of the heater core... Unless the cover is glued or otherwise stuck on the heater core compartment.

Okay then. Would it be possible for coolant to leak inside the cab? And on the drivers side? Should i try to pressure test it again, and see if it is the heater core?

I know the heater core is behind the glove box and it is a fairly cheap part like 20.00 but from what i have heard it is no the easiest part to get out. i believe you have to remove the dash. but you can take the two hoses that run to the core and bypass them if you dont use your heater alot.

Will this lose all heat? It gets chilly here in winter time, i rarely use it though, and it warms up about 100 ft. Before i get to my parkig spot at school.

yes you will loose your heat as you are bypassing the core but you could use it as a short time fix till you decide to replace the core

a good way to tell is water on the floor and smelling coolant inside the cab it is not that uncommon at all for the heater core to go out

Well i always drive with the windows down, and ive only put coolant back in a couple times, usually water. But the mold on drivers side gave me a hint.
