i would try the bypass and ride it for a few days and see if you don't lose water then thats your problem. have you checked the oil? if the oil looks like chocolate milk them its a head gasket. water can only go on the ground, in the oil, in the floor board (passenger side ussualy), and into the engine intake which could get down on top of the pistons and bust a piston or bend a push rod.

For 87-91 it's cake to replace but I'm not so sure for 92-96. The same thing for the rangers. In 94 the heater core is easy to replace, but 95-up your sol.

It was a very easy job on my 94 with A/C. My 7 year old grandson and I changed it out in an hour and half with a slurrpy break.
The core is located behind the glove box and does not require any removal of the dash or the blower motor.
If the core is leaking it can spill on the pass side or go down the A/C drain line. Mine fogged the windshield when it went but I had been getting a slight smell of coolant for about a month. I also replaced the heater hoses which made the job a little easier.

Is all this rubber crap supposed to be around these hoses??? I think i might have just found the problem. Its been put on over the hoses because i cant get the hoses off. Im afraid of breaking something if i use force.
