Question Are Headers On a L6 really Worth It?

well finally getting some extra cash to get my truck back to inspect able and well not being so strange. I planned on getting a set of headers for my l6 to improve my horse power and torque but is 200 bucks really worth me scrapping my 6 month old stainless exhaust set up? it claims to add 20% more house power i'm skeptical the flow looks very strange. heres a link to the headers kit i plan to get. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-89300/

I see what you mean about flow- alot of 90+ degree bends... there might be better ways to spend that money.

i've got stock headers so I really don't know what the change would do but I personally wouldn't risk it. I always defer to engineers

true but people had 17 years to prefect stuff so the engine is a bit outdated i cant do a cold air intake i already have a stainless exhaust on it and it works good i guess theres not much for add on power for the L6s corse then again it can pull 2 other f150s out of the mud.lol

Can do roller rockers, cams, about anything you can do to a v8 man. Thinking about some for mine. Not that I need more hp but would be nice to have if I ever do lol.

true but its my daily driver so thats down the road when i can go with out a truck for a week or two and not worry about it raining and rusting my engine out. I'm beginning to think about getting a nother l6 so i can just rebuild it from the ground up and making it strong for ither nitrous oxide or a turbo but my land lord would hate the idea of me rebuilding an engine on his wood floors LOL

I guess im talking more about bolt on power more then the true old school engine mods. i might just change my gears to 4.09 or 4.10s to use some of my power to haul well you know.

Don't even need to pull the motor to do cams or rollers man. I know what you are saying though bro. I would offer my garage but it is full of **** right now lol. Have to clean it to get my truck in for the body work.

I have seen it done in less then a day. Depends on how fast you work and how good you are with tools and remembering how stuff goes together. Not positive on tools or the cam you would need or anything as I have the v8. I know should not take longer then a couple days at most.
