Default Got a new (used) 89'

So my landlord gave me his 89 ford today. It's got the 302 w stick shift and 4x4 he was a mechanics before so took pretty good care of it. My question is when I start it up it revs up to about 2k for about 3-4 seconds then drops back down to normal idle. Is this normal?? And what other info should I know about this truck. Sorry for the newb questions this is my first truck that hasn't been over 5 years old.

Thanks

I disagree on it being normal. Check out how to pull codes using a paperclip...either through the tech section of this site or http://oldfuelinjection.com

Okay thanks. It's been sittin a while so I'm Gunna run some seafoam thru it and do the normal fluid swaps and go from there. This is also my first stickshift and it seems in order to get it to start you have to press extra hard on the clutch pretty much pinning it at hard as possible on the floor. Is there anyway to adjust that?

That's completely normal if the trucks cold. If it hangs up there for 3-4 seconds even when you start the truck hot, that's when you'll wanna look at the TPS
