Default glasspack installation

Which side goes toward the front of the vehicle? Pic #1 or #2?

Number 1 is the correct way to mount it. Those are the baffles you see inside there. Mounting it with number 1 facing forward is going to give you the glass pack sound and crackle. Those baffles will be able to catch the sound from the exhaust quite it a little bit and give you that crackly glass pack sound. Mounting it with number 2 facing forward is basically the same thing as a straight pipe.

It should be marked on each end, A and B. A side goes to the front.

Well, I put it on both ways and started the truck. Sounds the same. :-/ And the tone is no different than the old flowmaster that was on it. Kinda disappointed. Was hoping for a little crackle. Guess I gotta shop around some more. Currently its running Pacemaker shorties, hollowed cat, true 3" from the cat back, glasspack, and Magnaflow stainless tailpipe.

Going up in diameter looses velocity, deadening the the dynamics of the glass pack's ability to have it's intended acoustical effect. So you shot yourself in the foot going up to 3 inches. As far as sound anyway. Upping diameter was still a good idea in regards to the engine.
