Default Fuel Pump replacement

Has anybody changed theirs? My front one finally gave up the ghost today, after whining for years.

Given the amount of work to change one, I figure I may as well change both while I've got the bed off. Do both tanks use the same kind of pump? Looking at the NAPA website, they have a pair Bosch pumps that are listed as "w/o Aft Axle Steel Tank" and "w/ Aft Axle Steel Tank". Do I just buy two of the latter?

You need one pump assembly for the forward tank, and one pump assembly for the rear tank.

Do both tanks use the same kind of pump, though? Or do I need specific front and rear pumps?

You will need different pumps for the tanks. Also the pumps assemblies for the plastic and metal tanks are different so you need to get the one for the type of tank you have.
Some models list two different pumps depending on what size tanks you have and two or three tubes on the rear pump, so all this needs to be taken into consideration before getting new pumps.

The pumps themselves are the same, but you don't need just the pump. You need the whole assemblies.

I already know that. All I'm trying to figure out here is when I eventually go to the parts store, am I buying two of the same thing or two different things.

The pump itself is the same, front and rear. The assembly that holds the pump is different, front and rear. You will need the entire assembly, not just the pump, therefore, you will need to buy two different parts.
