Fuel Filler on Wrong Side?

Where is the upper crease in OPs picture or is it just a patch panel from below the upper crease line? The pic I posted is taller and has the upper crease but OPs picture doesn't and the space above the wheel arch is very small compared to the bedside of his blue truck.

I see a shadow of the bumper but no tailpipe. My 87 has the tail pipe on the right side and I doubt an 88 is any different.Fuel fillers on the left side.
