Front Cat Delete
First I do not live an emissions state. I want my truck to be louder and deeper then the current setup(1st cat then sraight pipe) I want to either remove the first cat 2nd is gone and put on a dynomax bullet muffler. How do I remove and replace where the 1st cat was? Also does anyone know how much a true dual setup is on these trucks?
yes I know that i should have went in more depth, witht the question I think I am gonna get a summit Hooke rexhaust kit with bullets any thoughts on those?
Not really familiar with it without looking up the system. If you are only looking for loudness, large diameter pipes with as little restriction as possible. This does nothing for performance, efficiency , sound quality or air quality, but it is the best way to be loud. If you want mpg and performance, you want an h or x pipe and not much larger than dual 2 3/4" pipes. For deep resonance ( low growl ) you want a chambered muffler. For a raspy crackle and volume straight through mufflers ( or glass packs ) are best. An exhaust tip acts like a megaphone to increase sound and projection. Remember that even in a no inspection area its still against federal law to remove smog devices and on modern vehicles won't gain any performance. BTW it would help to know what engine you have.
The cat is for emissions, the muffler is for sound. I don't really care if you cut off the cat, but if it's sound you're looking for you're looking at the wrong item. The right muffler or lack of one should do it.
yeah well i'm not sure if you're familiar with dynomax bullets but is basically not having a muffler.. they're like very short glasspacks but less restrictive. to haulnass: I put 2 1/4 pipes right where my front cat was and ran them back to my glasspacks with punched out cats. Even though you may not live in an emissions state (I don't) be careful, as they still may not pass your truck for inspection if they see no converters on it.
