I wouldn't wire the fog lights in with your factory light switch. Wiring a toggle swich, in my opinion, is a much better idea. Has a lot to do with how you want to aim your fog lights, local laws, etc. Flipping one (or in my case, two), switches to flip them on isn't all that much work.

Only turn them on when its dark?? You could also install lighted toggle switches, so you know when they are on.

Using the light switch for power to the switch is fine, the switch is only a trigger for the relay and adds almost no extra load on that circuit. Then you still can turn off the lights while leaving the headlights on and the fogs will turn off with the headlights too. I thought that's what you said you were doing.

Go for it. I'm not tryin' to stop you. You can tap into the power wire right there at the headlamps. Just make sure you tap into the power for the dim lights. Its illegal most places to run fog lights with your brights.
